New Hat Projects is a Nashville-based creative studio specializing in site-specific art, pattern design, and collaborative installations. They create work that blends historical reference with contemporary boldness using inventive design solutions. Their projects explore the Venn diagram of art, architecture, and design—transforming spaces through texture, pattern, and storytelling.

Founded on the belief that ornamentation can carry deep meaning and that every surface is a canvas, New Hat draws inspiration from symbols, communal rituals, and the enduring power of handcraft. Whether they’re reinterpreting 19th-century weaving patterns using modern materials or designing immersive tile murals, their work aims to invite curiosity, add beauty, and reflect the people they partner with. From public art to private commissions, their practice is grounded in collaboration and a love of making. 

New Hat was founded in 2016 by Kelly Diehl and Elizabeth Williams who began working together out of a shared passion for creating an art filled life. Today, New Hat is helmed by Elizabeth Williams in collaboration with Design Director, Dave Meaney at their studio in The Hill.
