DESCRIPTION
We were VERY excited when the homeowner and interior designer, Mary Kathryn Wells, approached us to create a custom “kid’s art” wallpaper for her home renovation. MKW had lots of special works as well as truly random “doodles” (this is where the gold is) saved throughout the many years of her three children’s lives thus far which provided ample inspiration. This custom, large scale pattern (small scale mural), collaged wallpaper is comprised of over 75 pieces of artwork from the Vinyard family. We had to do quite a bit of exploration with art size, density of works and found that bigger and more was better. We kept the original colors from many of the works, while adjusting and tweaking other pieces that were not blending properly. We wanted the result to feel like a piece of contemporary art as well as a collection of ideas, like the best page in a sketchbook. We call it Vinyardism as it is a beautiful representation of their family’s art style or movement. The wallcovering serves a way to preserve and transform a family’s drawings & paintings in an evergreen way.
